370 - A Theology of Suffering - 2 hours:
The primary purpose of this course is to develop
a well-thought-out, bible-based, clearly articulated theology and
philosophy of suffering that will apply to Christian education and
ministry in Africa. Understanding, relating to, and emphasizing
with people is a first and essential tip for effective Christian
ministry. As a Christian leader or educator you must be about the
business of caring for hurting people and confronting injustice
and oppression. This course also gives a practical theology of suffering.
Explore the many forms those suffering takes - physical, emotional,
spiritual, and psychological. Human existence is difficult. Life
is filled with dark times of pain, hurt, and suffering. Ultimately
every person will endure dark periods of affliction, trial, discouragement,
and pain. At times God places us in a position to minister to hurting
people. What is the Christian response? What is the church's responsibility?
How do we meet the needs of hurting people?
